Faye Sweeney, Teacher
Violin came into Faye’s life when she was just 3 years old, and now she has over 25 years of experience with both violin and viola. Before college, she participated in the Dort Honors String Quartet and multiple youth orchestras. She trained through the Flint School of Performing Arts and studied under Detroit Symphony Orchestra associate concert master Hai-Xin Wu. She has been teaching music lessons for over a decade and loves seeing her students’ eyes light up when they grasp a new concept. Faye loves to help others have fun making music.

Growing up in the Soviet Union through the 1960’s and 70’s, Marina found joy and
confidence in learning the violin. Following high school graduation, Marina pursued a
degree in violin at the Music College in Kherson, Ukraine. During her college years,
she participated in the Kherson Music Theatre Orchestra and taught violin in the
Palace of Culture in Kakhovka, Ukraine. She later served as a violinist with the
Denmark Symphony Orchestra. In 1994, Marina immigrated to Las Vagas, Nevada,
teaching in the Music Academy there. She currently has 40 students in her private
violin studio. With over 40 years of teaching experience, Marina is excited to pass
on her knowledge to a new generation of students and teachers through WSA.
